Snip, Snip!

Galatians 5:7 "You were doing so well, who caused you to stop following the truth. It certainly wasn't the one who chose you. Be careful! Just a little yeast makes the whole bunch of dough rise."

What's the truth? God is real. He sent His son Jesus Christ to die for our sins, and because of the crucifixion and resurrection we have been forgiven. Christ died for our sins, and we are now joint heirs with Christ. We are children of the King, and we have access to every good and perfect thing in Christ Jesus. That is the truth.
John 3:16 Yes, God loved the world so much that he gave his only son, so that everyone that who believes in him would not be lost but have eternal life. & Romans 8:17 If we are God's children, we will get the blessings God has for his people. He will give us all that he has given Christ. But we must suffer like Christ suffered. Then we will be able to share His glory.
More truth: Follow the teachings of Christ, study His word, act in love, abide by the fruits of the spirit.
(2 Timothy 2:15, Galatians 5:22-23)
What are the benefits of following the truth: Freedom! We have freedom because Christ has made us free. We can ask for forgiveness. We can become new creations in Christ. Hell does not have to be our home.

So we know the truth, we know the teaching, we know the benefits, and we're doing so well but sometimes there are things that hinder us from following the truth.
I really enjoy reading books written by Paul. His story is a miraculous one and his teachings are so raw and uncut. Paul keeps it real. I like real. We all like real. So let's keep it real, shall we? We need to get rid of some dead weight. You can't move forward in the things of Christ, because some things are holding you back -- turning you from the truth. What exactly is it? Well the word says it surely was not the one who chose you! (Galatians 5:7) Shall we continue to keep it real? Great! In this walk with Christ we have to be 100% committed, we can't give God half and expect to reap the full benefits of being an heir. We have to remove those things that are turning us a way from the truth. It could be friends. It could be being too committed yo things other than Christ. It could be family. It could be unhealthy relationships. I'm not sure what it is, but you know. If  there is something pulling you from being a better Christian, a better disciple, a better example of what it means to live for Christ; well it's time to snip snip! Paul goes on to tell us in that same scripture that "a little yeast makes the whole bunch of dough rise." In other words one person can have a huge influence, whether that influence is negative or positive.

The walk is tough, and the word tells us it will be, but if we stay in His word, seek His face, and abide by His teachings surely we can endure. Christ will never give you more than you can bare, and if you need to cut off some things/people He will always give you the way out. We can't afford to allow anyone or anything to turn us away from the truth.

Be strong in the Lord. I'm in this journey with you.

Peace, Love, and Christ,
Carmen
